QA/QC Inspector (Civil/Architecture) - Duties & Responsibilities
General Responsibilities:
Ensure Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure that all civil and architectural works comply with project specifications, project standards, and international standards.
- Verify that the materials used in construction are as per approved specifications and standards.
Inspection & Testing:
- Conduct routine inspections of construction activities to ensure quality control.
- Witness and approve inspections and tests conducted by subcontractors.
- Verify that all tests and inspections comply with relevant standards and specifications.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain and manage all quality records, including inspection reports, test results, and quality control documentation.
- Prepare and submit detailed inspection and quality control reports to the QA/QC Manager.
- Review and verify third-party reports and ensure they meet project specifications and international standards.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action:
- Identify non-conforming work or products, and coordinate with relevant teams for corrective actions.
- Ensure that all non-conformance issues are addressed promptly and thoroughly.
Coordination:
- Coordinate with the construction team, project engineers, and subcontractors to ensure proper quality assurance processes are followed.
- Liaise with client representatives to ensure that quality standards are met and client satisfaction is achieved.
Site-Related Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Road Asphalt Work:
- Inspect and ensure proper site preparation, grading, and compaction before asphalt work.
- Monitor the quality of asphalt material and ensure it meets the specified mix design.
- Inspect the laying, rolling, and finishing of asphalt layers to ensure uniform thickness and compaction.
Site Preparation, Excavation, and Backfilling:
- Verify that site preparation is conducted according to design and specifications.
- Inspect excavation activities to ensure proper depth, dimensions, and safety measures.
- Ensure that backfilling is done using approved materials and proper compaction methods are followed.
Concrete Pre-Pouring & Pouring Inspections:
- Inspect formwork, rebar placement, and embedded items prior to concrete pouring.
- Ensure that concrete mix meets design specifications and is batched correctly.
- Monitor the pouring process to ensure proper placement, compaction, and curing of concrete.
Waterproofing:
- Inspect waterproofing systems, including membranes, coatings, and sealants, to ensure they are applied correctly.
- Verify that waterproofing materials comply with project specifications and are installed as per manufacturer recommendations.
Grouting Work:
- Inspect the preparation of grout mixes and ensure they meet the required specifications.
- Monitor grouting operations to ensure complete filling of voids and proper curing.
Building Finishing Work (Architectural Work):
- Inspect all architectural finishes, including plastering, painting, tiling, and carpentry, to ensure they meet project specifications.
- Ensure that all finishing materials are of the approved quality and are installed correctly.
- Inspect and verify the installation of doors, windows, fixtures, and other architectural elements.
Quality Records Management:
Maintain Quality Records:
- Ensure that all quality records, including inspection checklists, test results, and compliance certificates, are properly maintained and organized.
- Ensure that records are readily available for review during audits and inspections.
Verification of Third-Party Reports:
- Review and verify third-party testing reports to ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.
- Address any discrepancies or concerns with the QA/QC Manager and relevant stakeholders.
